Here's a look at how the gambling laws in Missouri affect each gambling activity.

Casino Games

Casino gambling is legal in Missouri, with a long history of riverboat casinos in the state. Currently, 13 riverboat casinos are operating in Missouri, with a wide range of games offered at these venues, including slots, Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Poker and Craps.

As Missouri prohibits unlicensed gambling, online casino gambling is deemed illegal. Many foreign online casinos accept players from Missouri, allowing residents to play online casino slots and other popular online games. This would be deemed illegal in the eyes of the law, but there is no record of players being prosecuted to date.

Poker

Poker gambling is legal in Missouri, with several of the state's licensed riverboat casinos offering poker games regularly. Popular poker venues in Missouri include Ameristar St. Charles, Hollywood Casino St. Louis and Harrah's North Kansas City.

Online poker gambling is not specifically mentioned in Missouri's legislation, making it an illegal state activity by default. That said, plenty of poker sites accept Missourians as members.

Bingo gambling in Missouri is legal, but charitable organizations can only run games. Operators must wait at least six months before legally offering bingo games. Lotteries

Lottery gambling is legal in Missouri, with the Missouri Lottery offering sales of tickets for draw games such as Mega Millions and Powerball, plus scratch cards, keno, and pull tab games.

Playing online lottery games for real money is illegal in Missouri, with the Missouri Lottery not even permitted to sell tickets or games over the Internet. Many lottery sites allow Missouri residents to sign up and play lottery games, although technically, this would be classed as illegal.
